Gillian Ramchand appointed Professor of Syntax and Semantics

The Faculty is absolutely delighted to announce that Professor Gillian Ramchand will be joining us and Magdalen College as Professor of Syntax and Semantics from 1 January 2025. Professor Ramchand gained her PhD from Stanford University in 1993, after which she moved to posts at the University of Oxford (1993–2004) and then the then University of Tromsø, now UiT the Arctic University of Norway (2004–present). Gillian is a leading scholar of the Syntax-Semantics interface, known for her foundational contributions to big theoretical and architectural issues and for her combination of theoretical depth with empirical rigour, including her work with Scots Gaelic and Bangla. We look forward to welcoming her and working with her!
